 Synopsis: Sparta is threaten by the Persians, and it is up to the Spartan king and 300 brave souls to take on the entire army of the Persian empire. 

 My Thoughts: This movie is a true guilty pleasure. There was nothing all that great about the movie, but for some odd reason, it turned out great.

   Scorecard

     Acting- Overacting galore! Gerard Butler plays Leonidas the King of Sparta, and does a very good job in overacting. I was impressed with the characters in this film, the overall acting was very odd just for the fact that every single person overacted, but it seemed to work very nicely. Every actor meshed very well with each other, but I cannot give it a full star just for the fact that everyone OVERacted. (1/2)

     Direction- Zack Snyder hasn't done a whole lot of movies to look back on. I was slightly confused with the way this movie was directed, there were too many hills an valleys, by that I mean that this film was either really slow or moved very fast, there was no in-between, just for the fact that it went from one extreme in being slow to the complete opposite extreme in being too fast and trying to get too much done at once, this category cannot get a full star. (1/2)

     Story- The Persian Empire is about to bring hell down upon Sparta, and King Leonidas will not let that happen, but he is stuck between a rock and a hard place just because his ministers will not allow him to go to war, so he gathers 300 of his best soldiers and they go out to try and defend Sparta. This film was written with perfection in mind. Frank Miller after his disastrous outing with Sin City, he clearly redeems himself with writing a very nice, brutal, graphic historical piece. (1)

     Expectations- I personally was not expecting a whole lot from this film. Once I heard that Frank Miller was the writer of this film, I became depressed because Sin City looked interesting, but turned out to be crap. This film looked interesting, but turned out to be incredibly good. This film surpassed the poor expectations I had for it. (1)

     Boring?- As I said in the Direction category, there was a real problem with flow. From slow to fast to slow again, it really hurt the outcome of the movie. The first 15 to 20 minutes were a little dull, and then it picked up a lot, then slowed down way too much, and it just went on like that for the entire two hours of the film. (1/2)

   Final Score: 3 1/2 out of 5

 Final Thoughts: This film was extremely graphic, but was very entertaining. I can see why people would absolutely love this film, but then again I can also see why people would seriously hate it too. In my opinion, if you are a guy, you would most likely enjoy this movie. If you liked Gladiator, you will like this film. But beware, overacting will have your eyes rolling back in your head at times, and you may get motion sickness from some of the shaky cameras, but it is a very entertaining movie that I believe most will like.
