Rachel Talalay
Rated R
Genre:
Horror
Original

My Thoughts:
My...what a twist...or is it? This was a very interesting film to say the
least and is the sixth installment of the Nightmare franchise.
Scorecard
Acting-
Breckin Meyer begins his reign of terror as an actor in this film and does
a very convincing job. I was really impressed with the way the entire cast
meshed, everyone seemed to have great chemistry with one and other. Of
course the movie wouldn't be complete without Robert Englund and his
contribution to the great character of Freddy Kruger, not to mention some
cameos of Alice Cooper, Rosanne, Tom Arnold and former Nightmare cast
member Johnny Depp. (1)
Direction-
A woman directing a horror flick? Woulda Thunk It? I was not really that
impressed with her vision of this film. She did get good performances out
of her actors, and the story flowed well enough to keep the film going,
but there was something strange about the way she directed this film that
made me not like it as much as I should have. (1/2)
Story-
Freddy Kruger has a child? I am not going to spoil the twist, but it was
one of those DUH! moments that you could see at least a half mile away.
This story had good flow, and carried nicely over to film, I have no
complaints. (1)
Expectations-
I lied when I said that I was not expecting anything from the rest of the
franchise. When I had heard that this would be the last film in the
franchise, I was hoping that it would go out with a BANG. While it did not
quite go out with a huge bang, it didn't fail to be pretty darned good.
(1/2)
Boring?-
With a running time of 90 minutes or so, they cannot afford to be boring.
Sadly, there were some parts that really dragged, and some other parts
that didn't make a lick of sense, and it really brought down the quality
of the film. (1/2)
Final
Score: 3
1/2 out of 5
Final Thoughts:
This was easily the second best movie in the franchise. While there was
truly nothing spectacular in this film, it was certainly much better than
all the other sequels. This is recommended if you like horror movies, and
only if you like the genre, because if you don't you will hate it.
