A View to Kill
Starring: Roger Moore Directed by: John Glen Rated PG Genre: Action Original Release Year: 1985 Synopsis: A Silicon Valley Pirate (someone who makes microchips) has an evil plan to destroy the Silicon Valley by an earthquake so he can be the only person to supply the world with microchips. My Thoughts: An aging Roger Moore in his final appearance as James Bond...could it live up to his other great Bond films? Almost. Scorecard Acting- Roger Moore returns for the last time as James Bond, and it really shows that he does not want to be there. Moore was 56 years old when he filmed this movie, and it showed, he just did not have the Bond look anymore. But luckily there was a villain by the name of Max Zorin played by the GREAT Christopher Walken. That character literally carried this film, and the really good acting job from Walken knocked this category up a notch, but sadly when the main actor doesn't want to be there, it really hurts. (1/2) Direction- John Glen is back for his third Bond film, and he continues to do a good job. There were some problems with this film though. The violence rose above the "norm" in this film, and personally I think that it really took away from the "Bond Feel" of the film. (1/2) Story- This story is almost the exact as Goldfinger, it has to do with a madman that wants to take over a certain thing and destroy all competition so he is the only one around. But unlike Goldfinger, this film had Christopher Walken, and his character Zorin really helped this story flow nicely. But since this story was somewhat a rehash, it cannot get a full star. (1/2) Expectations- After the disaster of Octopussy I was seriously thinking that this was going to be the worst Bond ever. I was really happy with the outcome, this movie was far better than the previous film. (1) Boring?- This movie really suffered from Roger Moore not really wanting to be there. His acting job really hurt the feel of the movie, and it hurt this category because it was hard to get excited about Bond when Bond wasn't excited about Bond...if that makes sense. (1/2) Final Score: 3 out of 5 Final Thoughts: Well, this was a decent way of letting Roger Moore ride off into the sunset. Sadly, this is going to be the last decent Bond movie for 10 whole years.
