Scorecard
Acting-
Chevy Chase as Clark Griswold is always funny, but for some strange
reason, this role was lacking something, and I cannot quite put my finger
on it. Randy Quaid as Cousin Eddie was annoying and obnoxious, but at
times it was in a good way. No special acting, but it was decent enough to
keep the story afloat. (1/2)
Direction-
I have not liked any of Chechik's films. The direction of this film was
poor, and this film had no flow to it, and seemed to be just thrown
together. (0)
Story-
It's a nonsensical story of a family having Christmas. There was nothing
great about this story unless you have seen all the other
"Vacation" movies, and I wasn't a huge fan of them. (0)
Expectations-
I was expecting a bad Christmas film, with some funny jokes and a bad
taste left in my mouth after watching this. That is EXACTLY what I got.
(1/2)
Boring?-
To be honest, this film was not all that boring. The jokes were placed
enough apart that it was funny enough to have you laugh at times. But,
with the story as dull as it was, and the direction as bad as it was,
there really isn't helping this category. (1/2)
Final
Score: 1
1/2 out of 5
Final Thoughts:
This movie is a favorite among fans of the Vacation films, but for some
strange reason, I just can't see why. If you want a movie to give you a
few giggles and you have about 100 minutes to kill, I have no problem with
you watching this movie, but if you want a good Christmas movie, this is
not one of them.
