Street Hooligans
(sorry no poster found!)
Starring: Elijah Wood
Directed by: Lexi Alexander
Rated R
Genre: Drama
Synopsis: An American journalist
student gets kicked out of Harvard for holding his friends cocaine stash. He
goes to England to visit his sister and her family. He quickly becomes involved
with a gang of football hooligans, and he is transformed forever.
My Thoughts: For being an artsy
film, this told a very good story and was very heartfelt, do be warned though,
there is a lot of violence.
Scorecard
Acting- Elijah Wood really carried this movie, while not alone,
he did a very good job in playing off of the supporting cast. (1)
Direction-
I really didn't like a few places this film went. There were some flaws that
really hurt the direction of the movie, but overall it wasn't bad enough to get
a zero. (1/2)
Story-
I really enjoyed this story. Basically a pansy from Harvard goes to England and
becomes a man. The hooliganism that went on this movie really had me scratching
my head, but I am not from that culture, so I really haven't the slightest clue
on why some of these things went on in the first place, but the story was still
a good one. (1)
Expectations-
I really didn't expect anything from this movie. It looked like it was going to
be a movie that has no point or plot, I was happy with the outcome. (1)
Boring?-
This movie is a very slow one. Between the brutality of some of the fights,
there really isn't a lot going on. Don't get me wrong, it told a very good
story, they just took a long time to do it. (0)
Final Score:
3 1/2 out of 5
Final Thoughts: For being an
independent film, that not too many people have heard of, I really enjoyed this
movie. It had a good story, some likeable characters and a few characters that
you wish would get theirs in the end...sadly...not everyone does.
