Home Alone II
Starring: Macaulay Culkin Directed by: Chris Columbus Rated PG Genre: Family Synopsis: After his family accidentally left him at home last year, Kevin actually makes it to the airport with his family, but this time he boards the wrong plane and ends up Lost in New York. My Thoughts: While this movie was not as great as the first Home Alone movie, this was still a pretty fun movie. Scorecard Acting- Macaulay Culkin was having some problems with his acting in this movie, he seemed a little bored with being there. The "Wet Bandits" return in this movie and call themselves the "Sticky Bandits" and both Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern carry this movie whenever they are on the screen, but with the main character of Kevin (Culkin) basically sleeping through his acting job, this category really cannot get a great rating. (1/2) Direction- It seemed like the director was having some problems trying to keep the flow of the movie going and trying to have the actors give good performances. While I did like where this movie was directed to go, I did not like the way it flowed to the ending and I did not like the way this director directed his actors. (1/2) Story- It's basically the same story as the first movie, only different. Kevin (Culkin) makes it to the airport with his family this time after being left at home last year, but he boards the wrong plane and ends up in New York while his family is going to Florida. While in New York he finds a distant family members house and defends it against the crazy "Sticky Bandits" who are freshly out of jail and trying to make a name for themselves again. While it was not a great story, it was certainly good enough to keep you entertained. (1/2) Expectations- I was expecting this film to be on par with the first film. It wasn't quite there, but it almost was. I cannot rightfully give this a zero star, because it was just about what I expected. (1/2) Boring?- This was like the first film, in that it had some boring parts, but was more repetitive than anything else. (1/2) Final Score: 2 1/2 out of 5 Final Thoughts: This was entertaining enough to keep you from walking away from it, but it was really nothing special. Again, it is a great kids movie, and kids do love it, I loved it as a kid, but as I grew older, I realized how not great it was.
