cartoons.
Scorecard
Acting-
Matthew Broderick is not the greatest actor in the world, with that said,
I actually did not have a problem with the way he portrayed Inspector
Gadget, I believe that he did a pretty good job, but the best acting in
this entire film came from Rupert Everett as Dr. Claw, he was so
incredibly over the top "evil" he it was actually pretty fun to
watch. (1)
Direction- Or lack there of. This movie had little to
no flow to it. It seemed to be thrown together at the last minute.
Normally, I would give at least a half star just for the fact that the
actors did a good job, and part of the directors job is to get the actors
to do their jobs nicely, but I cannot rightfully give anything to the bad
directing that this film consisted of. There was no flow, everything
seemed to bounce around, and not a lot made sense. (0)
Story-
Sure, it isn't the best story ever written, but it was an awesome story
for kids. A man is on the brink of death, so a scientist saves his life
and alters is by adding millions of gadgets to him. It does not make a
whole lot of sense, but I don't think that it was supposed to. (1/2)
Expectations-
I was hoping that it would be as good as to old cartoons (which I loved)
but it wasn't really anything like it. While it had the same premise, it
just didn't have the same feel to it. This film failed to meet my
expectations. (0)
Boring?-
This film was not boring in the definite sense, but it was a little too
much over the top, and that had me reeling at times. While the film as a
whole was actually quite entertaining, some parts were exaggerated a
little too much, and it hurt the film. (1/2)
Final Score:
2 out of 5
Final Thoughts:
This movie was certainly not great. But for a kiddie movie, it was
certainly entertaining and kids would absolutely love it. But if you are
looking for a movie that resembles the old television show, this is not
it. sorry.
