Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang

Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang

Starring: Val Kilmer and Robert Downey Jr.

 Directed by: Shane Black

 Rated R

 Genre: Comedy/Action

Synopsis: Weird things happen in the small world of Hollywood. A crook from New York stumbles into a casting, gets a job as an actor and moves to Hollywood and things begin to unravel.

My Thoughts: This movie was very well done, the perfect combination of comedy and action with some drama added in there. Kilmer and Downey Jr. played off of each other very well, and overall this movie was very fun and very interesting.

   Scorecard

Acting- The acting in this movie wasn't the greatest acting jobs I have seen from these actors, but both Val Kilmer and Robert Downey Jr. did good jobs for what they had to work with. Michelle Monaghan (whom I have not seen in any other movie) was very enjoyable in this movie also. (1)

Direction- I really liked the way this movie went...Shane Black (who did the lethal weapon movies) did a very good job in keeping to the story, and didn't stray once. Impressive. (1)

Story- The story was very interesting. A small time crook from New York bursts into a casting directors office after his friend gets shot, and nails a screen test so well he goes to Hollywood and becomes an aspiring actor...and meets up with a friend from his childhood while growing up in Indiana. (1)

Expectations- I heard this was the best movie of 2005. While it wasn't that great, it was still a very entertaining movie. It met my expectations...nothing more though. (1/2)

Boring?- The way the movie went, it had its boring parts, but there weren't too many of them, the problem was, the parts that were boring hurt the movie. (1/2)

Final Score: 4 out of 5

Final Thoughts: This movie was very good. I enjoyed 99 percent of this movie. Val Kilmer playing a gay private detective was very funny, and Robert Downey Jr. playing a down on his luck small time crook seemed to fit him very well. This movie is a definite recommendation.
