Not one of the finer stories from the James Bond franchise...at all.
Scorecard
Acting-
Roger Moore is again asked to return as James Bond, and again does another
really good job in the character he was given. But sadly, the supporting
cast around him. including the title character played by Maud Adams does
terrible. There was nothing exciting about the characters, and it really
hurt the Bond character. (0)
Direction-
Part of directing is to get good performances out of your actors. John
Glen returns and does not get good performances at all, granted, it wasn't
really his fault due to bad casting and a bad story. Glen still continues
to deepen the character of James Bond though and that helps the rating
some. (1/2)
Story-
When any story has a super sleuth trying to find a jewel smuggler (who
happens to be a woman) really doesn't go very far in my eyes. To be
honest, this is the worst written Bond film in the entire franchise. (0)
Expectations-
Once I head what this story was about, I really didn't have a lot of
expectations for this movie, and it just about met what I had for it. (1/2)
Boring?- This film in a Bond movie...it really cannot be
that boring. There were some really silly parts here and there were some
parts of the movie that really had you groaning it was so bad, but overall
it wasn't all that boring. Luckily this film only had a running time of
about 125 minutes, because if it were any longer, this might have gotten a
zero. (1/2)
Final Score: 1
1/2 out of 5
Final Thoughts:
This movie was what it was...a bad Bond film. Nothing too exciting or
great, but was a Bond film nonetheless. This is one of the few Bond films
that I really wouldn't even recommend to even fans of the franchise. I
say, skip this one completely.
