Scream 2
Starring: Neve Campbell
Directed by: Wes Craven
Rated R
Genre:
Horror
Synopsis: Set two years after
Scream, Sidney is now in college and starting life over, when copycat
killings begin to happen again.
My Thoughts: Like most
sequels, they rarely live up to the first, this suffered from the sequel
syndrome too. It was still pretty good, but there is no way it lived up to
the first movie.
Scorecard
Acting-
The acting was about par in this movie. No one went out of their way to
give a great performance, but the acting was still okay. David Arquette
gave the best performance of this movie (yes, you heard me right) and that
may be saying something. (1/2)
Direction- Sequel syndrome strikes again. The direction of
this film was just average, it seemed to want to go one place, then
flipped and flopped a few times before deciding where to end up. It took
away from the movie. (1/2)
Story-
To be honest, I think this movie was written better than
the original. With already established characters, they really didn't need
to spend time on developing them, so they really got right to the fun of
the story. With copycat killer(s) it is always a little more fun, to see
how much further they will go than the original, these killers didn't go
as far as the first movie, but it was still good to see. (1)
Expectations- This movie lived up to the hype of the first
movie I suppose. While not quite as good as the first, it was still a
pretty fun movie to watch in itself. (1/2)
Boring?- Not at all. This movie flowed very well, with very
few down times, and there was just enough horror action to keep you
wanting more, and they delivered. (1)
Final Score: 3
1/2 out of 5
Final Thoughts: This movie
was fun to watch, and was almost as good as the first movie. Few sequels
live up to the original movie, while this movie did not quite do it... it
was certainly close. Don't see this movie without seeing the first one,
you will get confused.
