Scream 3
Starring: Neve Campbell
Directed by: Wes Craven
Rated R
Genre: Horror
Synopsis: When a movie comes
out detailing the horror of the Woodsboro incident, murders being to
happen again, and Sidney is forced out of isolation to try and help stop
these atrocities once and for all.
My Thoughts: This is the
third movie (obviously by the title of the film) in the Scream trilogy.
This movie also suffers from the effect of the dreaded sequel syndrome.
This was not nearly as good as the first one, and was not quite as good as
the second one. Let us see how everything adds up.
Scorecard
Acting-
Neve Campbell was barely in this movie, so I consider her a non factor.
Arquette again, was surprisingly good, Courtney Cox was okay as the bitchy
reporter turned celebrity for writing a book that this new movie was based
on. The acting was nothing special, but at least I could tell that there
was something going on. (1/2)
Direction-
The direction of this movie was almost non existent. Which is sad. I
really wanted to understand what was going on, but it was hard to follow
with the twists and turns this film threw out. (0)
Story- This story was actually pretty interesting. I liked
the idea of another copycat killer going after people that acted and
filmed a few copycat killers...(did that make sense?) I liked the story. (1)
Expectations-
I really was hoping that this movie would be a satisfying end to the
trilogy, it really wasn't. But it met the expectations I had, I was
expecting it to be a decent horror movie, with some cheese added to
it...that's what it was. (1/2)
Boring?-
Kind of. There was not a lot of action to this movie, there was more psychology
than anything else. Not exactly the best thing to keep you from taking
your eyes off the screen, but this movie was solid enough to keep me from complaining.
(1/2)
Final Score:
2 1/2 out of 5
Final Thoughts: This movie is
recommended because it was apart of the trilogy. While it wasn't a very
satisfying way to end the series, it was good enough from having people
complain a lot about it. This is one of those films that you really need
to decide for yourself on if it is good or not. Personally, it was
average, nothing more, and nothing less. Don't see this movie without
seeing the first two.
