The Living Daylights
Starring: Timothy Dalton
Directed by: John Glen
Rated PG
Genre: Action
Original Release Year: 1987
Synopsis: 007 returns to help
a Soviet General defect to the west.
My Thoughts: No matter what
anyone says, Timothy Dalton is easily the worst Bond in the franchise. He
does not look the part, he does not act the part, and for some strange
reason, he seems to be more of a villainous Bond than anything else.
Scorecard
Acting-
Timothy Dalton begins his reign of terror as James Bond and within the
first ten minutes of the movie you already hate the choice of him as Bond.
His acting was below par as James Bond and in my eyes really didn't seem
to try and be a good Bond in this film. It really doesn't help when the
supporting cast does a really bad job too. Acting overall in this movie
was bad at best. (0)
Direction-
John Glen returns for his fourth Bond film, and begins to slowly go down
hill. Glen does not get good performances out of his actors, nor does the
story flow very well and everything seems shaky. (0)
Story-
It's another story where Bond tries to help a Soviet defect. Nothing
overly special about the story but as always, it makes for a decent movie.
(1/2)
Expectations-
I was hoping this movie would be at least watchable...boy was I wrong.
This entire movie had me rolling my eyes around, everything about this
movie made my head hurt. (0)
Boring?-
This movie had nothing exciting about it. While the entire movie was not
all that boring, there were a lot of crucial times that just dragged
because of bad acting, bad directing, or just plain bad story. With a
running time of 130 minutes or so, everything just seemed to drag. (0)
Final Score: 1/2
out of 5
Final Thoughts: This movie is
sadly the worst Bond movie ever. There have been some real stinkers, but
nothing adds up to this crapfest. I wouldn't wish this film on
anyone...not even my good friend Jim. (sorry Jim!) Avoid this movie at all
costs, you may get cancer from just looking at the cover. (results are
made up.)
