The
Matador
(sorry
I couldn't find a poster for this movie)
Starring: Pierce Brosnan
and Greg Kinnear
Directed by: Richard
Shepard
Rated R
Synopsis: A hitman becomes washed
up while in Mexico. He befriends a traveling salesman whom is down in Mexico to
try and find a job. An awkward friendship emerges.
My Thoughts: there was just
something great about this movie. It was very entertaining and told a very
interesting story.
Scorecard:
Acting:
Pierce Brosnan as Julian Noble and Greg Kinnear as Danny Wright
couldn't have meshed any better. They both did excellent jobs in their
respective roles. Hope Davis as Danny's wife was very well done as well. (1)
Direction:
I have never seen any of Richard Shepard's work before. I think
that the direction of this movie was almost perfect. But there was a few parts
that left you wondering why they went the way they did, I can't justify giving
this category a full star. (1/2)
Story:
I loved the way this story was written. The story was funny and heartfelt and
full of suspense and some action, the characters were very likeable and it was
overall a great job. (1)
Expectations:
I really didn't expect much from this movie. It looked decent enough, but it
really didnt look all that great, when I saw it the first time (on my
birthday!!) I was very surprised. It was very good. (1)
Boring?:
This is the one category that always seems to hurt movies. While this movie was
gold, there were too many parts that had down time. Which is sad, because this
was one of those movies, that you really don't want to be slow. But there was
some really slow parts. (1/2)
Overall Rating: 4
out of 5.
Final Thoughts: This movie was
shockingly great. Pierce Brosnan did one helluva job in his role, and his
character drove the story, and was really the highlight of the movie. Go and see
it.
