The World Is Not Enough

 Starring: Pierce Brosnan

 Directed by: Michael Apted

 Rated PG-13

 Genre: Action

 Theatrical Release Year: 1999

Synopsis: A former KGB assassin is set out to control the worlds oil supply, it is up to James Bond to stop him.

My Thoughts: Another basic rehash, with nothing overly great, not the greatest time for Bond films.

   Scorecard

Acting- Pierce Brosnan returns as 007 and again does a very good job and this time he has a pretty good villain to work with in Renard the Anarchist played by Robert Carlyle. Brosnan and Carlyle worked very well together and they clicked very nicely, acting in this movie was not great by any means, but it was good enough to get the job done. (1/2)

Direction- Michael Apted was out of his league when given the job to direct the 19th James Bond film. The best movie this guy had done previously was Thunderheart and that movie wasn't all that great. Apted got good performances from his actors, but that is all he did. The movie did not flow very well, there were a lot of scenes that were way overdone and the overall direction of the film really didn't make a lot of sense. (0)

Story- This was basically another rehash, but it worked just as well as the other movies it was rehashed from. I liked the crazy antics of Renard (the villain) and he seemed to work very nicely in this role. But I cannot give it a full star just because it was not a very original idea. (1/2)

Expectations- I was seriously hoping that this movie would be better than the last, it was in some parts, but not nearly as good in others and not quite as good as it should have been. If that makes sense, give yourself a pat on the back! This was just about what I expected from the film. (1/2)

Boring?- This film again suffered from the Overdone Syndrome in some parts, but the overall film was not all that boring. I cannot give it a full star because there were a lot of parts that had you scratching your head wondering what was going on, and why it was happening. (1/2)

Final Score: 2 out of 5

Final Thoughts: This film, being the 19th Bond film, you are going to have problems trying to come up with new and fresh ideas. While there was nothing terrible about this film, it just didn't have greatness like it should have. I cannot rightfully recommend this film just for the fact that it was not that good, but if you are a Bond fan, you may like it or you may not. Me as a Bond fan did not like it all that much.
