Undercover Brother
Starring: Eddie Griffin
Directed by: Malcolm D. Lee
Rated PG-13
Genre: Comedy
Synopsis: The MAN has been
controlling the world for too long, an African-American has finally
decided to run for president, and the MAN does not like that idea, so he
kidnaps him and brainwashes him, it is up to the B.R.O.T.H.E.R.H.O.O.D.
and Undercover Brother to save the day.
My Thoughts: This movie is a
spoof of all the 1970's Blaxplotation films. It is hilarious, but not a
great movie per se.
Scorecard
Acting- Eddie Griffin as
Undercover Brother is very funny. Denise Richards as the Black Man's Kryptonite
is hilarious and Neil Patrick Harris as the white man in a black mans
world is pure gold. (damn affirmative action!) But the acting wasn't
anything special, albeit funny, just nothing great. (1/2)
Direction- This movie really
didn't have a whole lot of direction, but flowed well enough because the
story was written well. (1/2)
Story- Undercover Brother has
been hired by the BROTHERHOOD to save a presidential candidate who has
been brainwashed by the MAN, hilarity ensues. (1)
Expectations- I expected this
movie to be pretty funny and entertaining. It was. (1/2)
Boring?- I really don't remember
any really boring parts to this movie. I do remember that there were parts
to this movie that didn't make much sense, but overall it was not boring. (1/2)
Final
Score: 3 out of 5
Final Thoughts: This movie
was a very good spoof. Eddie Griffin knows his spoofs and seems to do well
in the ones he is in. I was impressed with this movie, just because it was
funny during most of the movie, while not all of it being laugh out loud
funny, there are tons of little chuckle parts.
